DALTON, Ga. – What are the possible advantages of a gluten-free diet?

Bradley Wellness Center will offer a gluten-free eating class on Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. Presented by Erica Jones, BWC dietician, the free, 1-hour class will include information on a gluten-free diet, common foods containing gluten, celiac disease, diet recommendations and where food sources can be purchased in this area.
“Some foods can cause adverse reactions for people with celiac disease,” said Jones. “It’s important for them to learn how to adjust their diets to live a healthy life.”
Celiac disease is a genetic disorder that affects at least 1 in 133 Americans. The disease is triggered by consumption of the protein called gluten, which is found in wheat, barley and rye. The symptoms can range from mild weakness, bone pain and recurrent ulcers to chronic diarrhea, abdominal bloating and progressive weight loss.
Light refreshments will be provided at the event.
